Classic Charm

This project was a total beaut from start to finish. Our client came to us with a solid love of design and great taste to start with, but she wanted some help getting pushed a little out of her comfort zone. She wanted to embrace the traditional design of her home and keep its history while adding freshness and fun. Enter Sprinkman Design! Our team stepped in to help remodel the back entry, front entry and staircase, banquette, family room, and primary bedroom and bathroom. The client brought beautiful details to the table, and we helped with the design and execution – a match made in heaven.

Entryway

We used an inky black paint color to drench the vestibule and pull in the wallpaper our client had used in the room across the way. We also helped to create a custom sisal runner for her staircase with a black trim making the entire entry space more cohesive.

Back Entry

The team worked with a custom cabinet maker to create a locker system inspired by the original builtins in the space. The dark paint is brought to life through the fun cutouts, and statement-making hardware that our client had collected from Beata Heuman. These bow-shaped beauties were hand-forged on lacquered brass by a bronzista in Florence. The flooring here was also replaced with a tumbled stone look.

Banquette

Here, a paint refresh was in order. With the cleaner backdrop, we prioritized color and pattern through a custom-made cushion for the banquette bench. We also designed and coordinated an update to the railing to feel more historic via new and more classic post and spindles, as this area of the home was not original to the house and lacked some of the character seen in other areas. A new, statement making light fixture was the cherry on top of this super cool space.

Family Room

Sprinkman Design had the existing builtins painted out. They were in great condition, so this method was a great way to refresh the look without having the high price tag of new cabinetry. We also added beautifully classic woven roman shades for the window treatments here.

Primary Bedroom

This room was a blank canvas when we arrived, also lacking the traditional elements and character seen in the original home. By laying out a design of custom millwork, the flat walls were brought to life. We selected new furniture, including a luscious green velvet bed, comfortable side chair on brass casters, and large dresser. With a centered museum-worthy light fixture and finishing touches like the rug and custom drapery to add some pattern, their primary bedroom became a thing of beauty.

Primary Bathroom

The primary bathroom needed a full refresh. Similar to the family room, the original cabinetry was kept. We also worked around keeping the flooring and countertop. With the addition of new gold plumbing and accessories, traditional black sconces to echo the cabinetry color, elegant neutral patterned wallpaper, and individual mirrors – this room was completely transformed into the loveliest of spaces.
