Contemporary Mid-Century Refresh
This project was rooted in creating a home that feels inspiring, intentional, and functional for a young family, designing around the rhythm of a busy household. Durability, comfort, and practicality guided material selections and spatial planning, ensuring the home could support daily life. Custom solutions, from integrated storage and concealed functionality to tailored furniture pieces, were developed to reduce visual clutter.
At the heart of the design vision was a balance of mid-century modern influence and contemporary family living. Clean lines, natural materials, and sculptural forms provided the foundation, while layered textures, warm woods, and softened finishes made things more approachable. Existing architectural quirks and original elements were not treated as obstacles, but as opportunities to intentionally bring forth the home’s character.
Ultimately, the project reflects a family that values both design and livability, creating a home that feels inspirational and relaxed.

Entry
The entry was designed to create a warm and inviting first impression. A new light fixture casts a soft, ambient glow, while updated paint throughout the entry and hallways immediately brightened the space. The original wallpaper, previously painted over, revealed a unique texture the client loved. We chose to preserve that character while shifting the color to a warm, neutral tone.
Living Room
The living room was reimagined to feel more balanced, beginning with the reworking of the off-centered fireplace. A timeless textured ceramic tile surround added depth, and was complemented by a custom walnut mantel that ties seamlessly to the nearby dining furniture. Layered furnishings, including sculptural side tables, battery-powered table lamps, and a tufted leather ottoman, ground the seating area and reinforce the existing material palette. Throughout, art and decor were selected to introduce a sense of personality and play. The refreshed paint and the addition of recessed lighting enhance the overall atmosphere.

Dining Room
In the dining room, artwork was introduced to bring dimension to the walls and draw in the tones established in the adjacent living area. Overhead, the original recessed lighting was replaced with a mid-century modern bare bulb chandelier as a sculptural focal point. Finishing touches included styling the table with curated objects and softening the space with greenery.
Office
This office palette was refined by shifting the walls to a warm white and deepening the bookshelves to a moody blue. A custom desk with cognac leather desk chair was integrated between the bookcases, while floating shelves and cabinetry across the room were designed to unobtrusively incorporate the client’s speakers. A warm wood desktop, hand-looped wool rug, and leather seating introduce natural texture and durability, a key for a family with young kids and cats. Roman shades were added to soften the windows and filter light from the outdoors, while a stunning flush-mount and reading light keep things functional. Â
